Show report

I think that it is about time that I start my show reports for uni....
Looking into Spring/Summer 2012 I will be finding key trend that re-occor over the four Citys shows.

From my research I can see that there has been a strong influence from sportswear within this years collections, this can been seen amongst designers such as....
The use of sportswear has been very much mixed up with the influence of couture within ready-to-wear, this has added and classy and sophisticated touch to what can sometimes look cheap.
Another common trend is the use of lace, mesh and transparent materials, this could be found in man designers in each City, along with the use of white.

At Paris Fashion Week, McQueen kicked off his show with a model wearing lace over her head, dressed in a very structured and androgynous suit dress which was softened by the use of ruffles and pastel colours. McQueens Collection worked with a lot of black and white, and gold.
In contrast to this Balenciaga featured oversized rounded shoulders, similar to that of a boyfriend jackets. They also worked with a lot of digital print, cut out shapes and satins which are also some other re-occoring trends.
Celine used a mix of the trends that McQueen and Balenciaga used, pulling together black and white, tailored and sculptured shapes with graphic cut outs. The collection was built up of white and black with a hit of red, green and gold on a few pieces.
Comme De Garcons is in complete contrast to these other three, they worked in such a surreal and couture way. The key trends still featured in their collections, nearly all the designs were white, some featured a black and white graphic print. They used graphic cut outs, cages and transparent fabrics. A few of these key trends were used in each design but somehow they weren't over powering, I think this was helped from the coherent use of white.

Christopher Kanes collection at London Fashion Week followed the trend of whites and pastels, it also had a lot of use of florals, and cut out shapes. Kane used stains and sheer materials and contrasted this and the florals with tailored shapes.
Mulberry was very alone in its choice of using block bright colours but for this reason it stood out to me, the used key trends of digital prints, shiny fabrics, florals, cut outs and sheer fabrics. The collection is vast and cheerful in contrast to many black and white collections.
Another designer that used pastels, black and one bold colour was Todd Lynn. The collection featured tailored designs, androgynous shoulders, cut outs, shiny fabrics and transparent materials.
Anne Sofie Back Atelje had a innovative collection with use of pastels, blacks and a flash of bright pink. The collection was bursting with creative shapes, cut out shapes, transparent materials and tailored shapes.
London Fashion Week included all the key trends and pulled most of them together within each collection.
