Drawing Drawing Drawing......

Keeping on top of my illustrations and practicing my styles I have created a few more 'heads'.
This first three I was bringing together my use of cross hatching and watercolour to create a more dense  and interesting look

Below drawing is one of my fav's, I like the way that the cross hatching can be seen. I think that the technique used on the hair needs improvement!

Second style.... A more intense colour with watercolour and fine liner. Using extra lines on the face create a doll like look to my 'heads'

The below image is one of the best I did in this session. I feel it has quite a life like look to it and the hair is more hair like than the others.

My third style is very minimalistic, one line and one or two simple feature.
I find this hard to link with outfits as it is so minimal.

Above and below are the best of this style. One feature works best.

More Illustrations 19/10/11

Developing more styles of drawing heads in different medias

Watercolour and Pencil

Pencil

Biro and Pencil

 Pencil and colouring pencils

Fine Liner and Pencil

Fine Liner

Chalk and Charcol

From all these I still think that  my best way of working is in pencil and watercolour. It has the same look as my previous ones in watercolour and fineliner. The other that I think it the most successful is the just fineliner drawing which has a almost animation look to it.

Illustrators

Just came across there two illustrators, uniques ways of working and I really like the way that they have used line in such a simple way.

Illustration 16/10/11

Homework for illustration, to created a drawing that captures the given outfit. To show pattern and the outfits personality.

I created this drawing by doing the face study in pencil and then the body in watercolour with a overlay of fine liner. The zip I did with with pencil to bring the two techniques together.

The face went slightly off on here, the cheek on the right and eye being wrong..
For a A3 study I am pleased with the way that is came out on first attempt!

More head designs

Continuing from my last heads, project homework states ten heads of different techniques and styles. As I feel I already have my own style I created ten in that way as posted before then I have created these six in other mixed medias and different styles so they can be compared.

I feel that my previous are stronger but perhaps that is because I am more comfortable in this media?
I think that my bottom right sketch in pencil could be something that I try out more often, as with the top right in ink and fine liner, this used of free line creates quite a statement.
